Luis Suarez reveals what he and Lionel Messi said to Neymar before PSG move

Unai Emery’s claim that Neymar missed Paris Saint-Germain’s win over Angers on Saturday due to a minor injury may not be true, if reports from Spain are to be believed.
According to Sport, the Brazilian is currently “unmotivated” to play for PSG and opted out of the match simply to keep him himself fresh for international action.

“The Brazilian's been surprised by the low quality of the rivals and the low attendances in the stadiums,” Sport claim.
“For that reason, he decided to rest before the Seleçao's games and to not travel to the Stade Raymond Kopa (Angers) where PSG played in front of 12,381 fans.”

It’s also suggested that Neymar’s focus lies with the Champions League, a tournament that will provide PSG with the level of competition the 25-year-old wants - especially in the knockout rounds.
And it was all going so well for Neymar in Paris.

He’s been mightily impressive following his £198 million move from Barcelona, scoring 11 goals in all competitions for the club.

His absence isn’t being completely felt at the Camp Nou though, with Ernesto Valverde’s side establishing an early lead in the La Liga title race with 10 wins from 11.
Still, Luis Suarez is fully aware of the talent Barcelona lost when Neymar went to PSG.

What Messi and Suarez said to Neymar before he left

The Uruguayan has given an extensive interview to Sport in which he revealed he and Lionel Messi, while both being disappointed at Neymar’s departure, told the Brazil international to do what he thought was best for his career.

When asked whether Neymar asked himself or Messi for advice, Suarez replied: “More than advice, [Messi and I] tried to do what would benefit the team. But we never said 'Don't go because you won't be happy.'
“We said we didn't want him to go, but that he was free to do what he wanted. Because of the friendship we have, it was painful that he left.”
Suarez added: “I tried to convince him to stay because I think here's the best place for him, but it's a decision he had to take.”

Neymar recently returned to Barcelona to visit his old teammates, proving the friendship is still very much real.
What football fans would give to see them become enemies for one memorable Champions League night, though.
