Why Arsenal are threatening to pull the plug on Olivier Giroud's move to Chelsea

Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang arrived at Arsenal's training ground on Tuesday afternoon - but a deal won't be completed until they secure a replacement.
The transfer window shuts on Wednesday night and the deal appears to hinge on Olivier Giroud and Michy Batshuayi's future.

Dortmund are hoping to sign Batshuayi on loan from Chelsea and the Blues are hoping to sign Giroud from their London rivals as his replacement.
Nothing has been agreed as of yet.

Aubameyang, who is hoping to finalise his move, was driven straight to London Colney on Tuesday afternoon after touching down at Luton Airport.
According to the latest update from the BBC's David Ornstein, Aubameyang's medical has been pencilled in for Wednesday morning.

However, Arsenal are still relying on a couple of other deals to go through - including Giroud's potential move to Chelsea.

Why Arsenal may pull the plug on Giroud's move to Chelsea

According to Ornstein, Arsenal are considering pulling out of the negotiations with Chelsea for Giroud.
The Blues had reportedly agreed a £20m fee for the 31-year-old Frenchman but Chelsea's transfer negotiator Marina Granovskaia is trying to drive down the price at the last minute.
Arsenal are 'threatening to end negotiations' for Giroud but that could blow up in their face if Dortmund are unable to sign Batshuayi.

Bad business behaviour from Granovskaia - it looks like it could go down to the wire.
Arsenal legend Ian Wright wasn't pleased with how the club handled Alexis Sanchez's departure but is excited at the prospect of Aubameyang leading the line at the Emirates.
“I’m really nervous because I really want that to happen,” Wright said on BBC Radio 5 Live. “Inadvertently Arsenal would have done good business by doing terrible business in the first place.

“They would have fallen on their feet, I’m so excited by that.”
However, Wright didn't seem too keen on Giroud joining their top four rivals.
“I feel that if they do sign Aubameyang, then they’ve got Lacazette and Aubameyang who are kind of similar strikers," added Wright.
“You still need Giroud, he’s still the guy who will score goals in this league if needed.”
