Liverpool considering a summer swoop for highly-rated Bundesliga attacker

The transfer window shuts on August 9 this summer and Liverpool are already considering exactly how to strengthen their squad.
Jurgen Klopp's attack-minded side will be in Friday's Champions League quarter-final draw after thrashing Porto 5-0 on aggregate.

“It feels really good, to be honest,” said Klopp on reaching the business end of the European competition.
“I cannot feel what people feel about waiting so long but I know about it. The last eight is cool. I am a little bit satisfied. It was time we showed up again.

"There is good development at Liverpool at the moment but, if you don’t show up in a competition like the Champions League, then nobody will realise it."
Liverpool were beaten 2-1 by rivals Manchester United on Saturday but the Red Devils went crashing out the Champions League at home to Sevilla on Tuesday night.

Mohamed Salah, who was trolled by Ashley Young on Instagram after the derby defeat, posted on social media immediately after United were eliminated.

Liverpool 'at the front of the queue' for Bundesliga star

According to the Independent, Liverpool are considering making a summer move for a highly-rated 22-year-old Bundesliga forward.

Klopp reportedly wants to bolster his attacking options and believes RB Leipzig's Timo Werner could be the man to do just that.
Naby Keita is set to join Liverpool from Leipzig this summer and it appears more business could yet be done between the two clubs.

Werner has scored 17 goals in all competitions this season and looks likely to be part of Germany's World Cup squad in Russia.
Liverpool have relied heavily on the front three of Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane and the 22-year-old forward would certainly give Klopp another option.

The Independent report that Werner has attracted the attention of a number of Premier League clubs, including Man United. However, they add that Klopp "has shown by far the strongest interest".
Werner did recently admit that he would prefer to join Man United over Liverpool.

“Playing in the Premier League is a dream for me," he told FourFourTwo.
"I would like to play for two or three clubs, and Manchester United are one of those clubs. But probably not in the next few years – later, when my English is a little bit better! I’m very comfortable at RB Leipzig, though.

“Manchester United and Liverpool were the teams I watched quite a lot in England. They were the two that I’m a little bit a fan of, because they have so much history. When Alex Ferguson was the coach, United won everything and were outstanding.

“In Liverpool it’s also their stadium and the atmosphere. But, when I have to decide, I’m more Manchester United than Liverpool."
